Departure from Akangau Jungle Expeditions in Tena at 8:30 am
We will travel by car to the lower region, to the San Pedro bridge, then take a motorized canoe down the Arajuno and Napo rivers and explore different areas along the way.
The first stop is a guided tour in the jungle, where we will walk along a trail to a lagoon. Along the way we can observe monkeys, birds and medicinal plants. Face painting, making crowns with natural fibers, piranha fishing (optional)
Continue the next leg of the journey by floating down the river in an inner tube, which is considered a mild, class I aquatic sport. This activity is optional and continuing by canoe is also available.
However you go, the next stop is to the animal rescue center, AmaZOOnico. Learn how they rehabilitate, reintroduce and care for animals that have been victims of illegal trafficking. Not all animals can be reintroduced but those who can, are set loose in a nearby protected forest called Selva Viva.
The next stop will be at a family hut, where we will have our traditional lunch. We will continue our journey along the Napo River to visit another local family to see the CAIMANES LAGOON. In addition, we learn about indigenous weapons, tools and traps, some of which are still being used by people today.
Our last stop will be at a cocoa farm, there we will see the cocoa tree and its different types. We will learn about all its artisanal production process and finish with a fruit tasting.
To finish this epic day-tour, you will travel by motorized canoe to Punta de Ahuano.
